Board Member of European Patients Forum (EPF). I am also pleased to represent EPF in Patients’ and Consumers’ Working Party (PCWP) within the European Medicines Agency (EMA). Through the EMA, I am involved in various projects as digital and media working group, electronic product information, vaccination and more. I am also a board member of the Polish Neuromuscular Diseases Association (PTCHNM) and European Alliance of Muscular Dystrophy Associations (EAMDA Slovenia). Co-organiser of many international and national conferences for patients with neuro - muscular diseases. Elizabeth A. Rider | USA

Elizabeth A. Rider, MSW, MD is a pediatrician and medical educator; leader of the Transforming Healthcare Relationships: Values, Learning Environments, and Organizational Culture project; and founder and Director, Boston Children’s Hospital / Harvard Medical School Faculty Fellowships in Humanism/ Professionalism, and Interprofessional Leadership. On the faculty of Harvard Medical School and the Harvard Macy Institute, she directs the international course Difficult Conversations in Healthcare. She served as Director of Academic Programs for the former Institute for Professionalism and Ethical Practice (2007-2020). Dr. Rider is a senior fellow and former Chair of the Medicine Academy of the National Academies of Practice. She is a founder of the International Consortium for Communication in Healthcare (IC4CH) and leads the International Charter for Human Values in Healthcare initiative, an interprofessional collaborative effort to restore attention to core values and skilled communication in healthcare. She also serves as an Associate Editor for Patient Education and Counseling. Dr. Rider has been recognized internationally for her work and has been an invited speaker / consultant in 10 countries. Her current research includes relational learning, values, communication skills, professionalism, medical /interprofessional education, as well as national collaborative studies to identify promoters /barriers to humanistic practice and education, and humanistic leadership and organizational culture change to mitigate burnout and enhance wellbeing. top

Tomasz Rowiński | Poland

Doctor of Psychology, assistant professor at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics – ThinkTank SGH for health care, member of the Council for Mental Health at the Minister of Health, member of the Social Welfare Reform Team at the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy, member of the Child Death Review Team at the Minister of Justice. He is the author or co-author of more than forty publications and presented sessions or lectures at more than 100 scientific and professional conferences in the field of mental health. He created the first community mental health centre for children and youth. He based the centre on a scientifically validated model of mental health, which was the basis for organising public services for families, children and youth. He was awarded the “Golden Synapse” distinction by the psychiatric community for his idea and its implementation. What is more, he was involved in the implementation of the model of deinstitutionalisation of public mental health services for children and youth in many parts of Poland. He is the initiator of databases for public policy, which are essential for decision-making in public services at government and local government levels. Tomasz Rowiński is committed to establishing the legal basis and mechanisms for multisectoral cooperation in the area of mental health from the public value perspective. top

Alric Rüther | Germany

Dr. Alric Rüther is Head of International Affairs at the Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care (IQWiG) and is Chair of the International Network of Agencies for HTA (INAHTA). He undertook the Study of Human Medicine in Budapest, Munich and Alicante, and has trained in internal medicine and haematology/oncology in Munich and Freiburg, Germany. Dr. Alric Rüther is the founder of the German Agency for Health Technology Assessment (DAHTA) at the German Institute for Medical Documentation and Information (DIMDI) and headed DAHTA from 2000 to 2007. He is active in various societies and networks in the field of evidence-based medicine and Health Technology Assessment (HTA), including Network of Evidence Based Medicine (EbM-Netzwerk); German Society for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology (GMDS); European Network for HTA (EUnetHTA); and Health Technology Assessment international (HTAi). top

Máirin Ryan | Ireland

Dr Máirín Ryan was appointed Deputy Chief Executive in September 2014. She joined HIQA as Director of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) in September 2007. Prior to this appointment, Máirín was the Chief 1 Pharmacist at the National Centre for Pharmacoeconomics and previously a senior HIV clinical pharmacist. She is an Assistant Professor in Pharmacoeconomics at Trinity College Dublin. She holds a doctorate from Trinity College Dublin as well as postgraduate qualifications in Health Economics and Clinical Pharmacy. Her research interests include: cost data generation in the Irish setting, evidence synthesis to inform health policy decision-making in Ireland, and economic evaluation of HIV interventions in the African setting. She and her team are responsible for conducting assessments of health technologies including drugs, devices, diagnostics and public health programs. In addition, the HTA Directorate at HIQA conducts evidence synthesis to support the development of National Clinical Guidelines. HIQA is now also providing evidence synthesis to support the development of national health policy by the Department of Health. Mairin served as the Chair of the Plenary Assembly of EUnetHTA from 2016 to 2018 and as the Vice-Chair from 2014 to 2015. Máirín represents Ireland on the European Commission HTA Committee and represents HIQA as a member of the Heads of HTA Agencies Group. top

Andrzej Ryś | Poland

Polish physician; he was Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Health in the years 1999–2001 and has been a Director in the European Commission since 2006; on 1 October 2022 he was appointed Principal Scientific Advisor in DG Sante. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Nicolaus Copernicus in Cracow. Between 1990 and 1997, Andrzej Ryś created and was the Principal of the Institute of Public Health of the Jagiellonian University Medical College. In the years 1997 and 1999 he was Head of the Cracow City’s Health Department. He was Deputy Minister between 24 June 1999 and 22 October 2001 at a time when Jerzy Buzek was Prime Minister. His focus was on international cooperation and Poland’s integration with the EU, reforming emergency medical services and training in medical professions. Andrzej Ryś was a member of the Negotiation Team led by Jan Kułakowski, where he was responsible i.a. for harmonisation of the Polish law and EU regulations. In late 2002 he founded the Centre for Innovation, Technology Transfer and University Development” (CITTRU) at the Jagiellonian University, where he was Director until 2006. In the years 2004-2005, he was also the director for strategy at Diagnostyka and in 2005 and 2006 he was the managing director of the National Association of Private Health Care Employers. On 1 June 2006 he assumed the position of director at the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANCO), responsible for public health affairs, and later for health systems, medical products and innovation. He was also a consultant to the World Health Organization and the World Bank. top
