Mark Parker | Serbia

Mark Parker is director at ZEM Solutions with more than 20 years experience in international health economics projects and health technology assessment. He is Health Economic modeller (University of Liverpool, University of York, UK) and Health Economics Consultant. Primarily involved in leading the development of care pathways, economic models and their evidence basis for use in global value dossiers, international HTA submissions, and national projects such as DRG development, patient registries and their analysis. Further specialising in the challenges of the CEE region and healthcare development. Bonny Parkinson | Australia

Associate Professor Bonny Parkinson is the Interim Deputy Director and a health economist at the Macquarie University Centre for the Health Economy (2022). She has also worked at the University of Technology Sydney, AstraZeneca in the United Kingdom, Access Economics, and the Australian National University. She currently co-leads a team of researchers conducting evaluations of submissions to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) and researching economic evaluation methodology. She has been involved in over 50 evaluations of submissions to the PBAC since 2009, and has also conducted evaluations of submissions to the Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC). To date, she has been the recipient of career research funding of over $22.0 million spread over 16 grants and has 38 peer-reviewed journal articles. She is currently on the editorial board of Pharmacoeconomics, and is an associate editor of Oxford Open Economics. top

She has a background in medicine and biology, specialising in molecular oncology, and re-training mid-career in health economics and policy, continuing with a Fellowship in Governance and Economics of Development Technology and Innovation at the United Nations University - Maastricht Economic and Social Research Institute on Innovation and Technology. She currently also serves as the Vice President of the Health Technology Assessment section, a Member of the Steering Committee of the Law and Public Health Section, a Member of the Infectious Disease Control section, and the Chair of the Gender Equality Working Group (SDG5 WG) at the European Public Health Association. She is the Co-Chair for Real-World Evidence and Artificial Intelligence at HTAi, a Member of the Healthcare Professional’s Working Party of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and a Member of the Advisory Forum of the Health Emergency Preparedness and Response (HERA) of the European Commission. She is a Member of the Advisory Board of the European Forum for Primary Care leading the Vaccines WG and representing it in the European Network of Centres for Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigilance (ENCePP). She also serves in ENCEPP’s WG2 on Transparency and Independent Research. Her research, policy and advocacy work focuses on international collaboration, including regulatory frameworks and legislative frameworks, to improve global health and towards achieving digital equity and reaching UHC, with special emphasis on real-world evidence, benefit/risk communication, new technologies, and artificial intelligence. Andrés Pichón Riviere | Argentina

Andrés Pichon-Riviere is the Managing Director and Director of the Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and Economic Evaluations Department of the Institute for Clinical Effectiveness and Health Policy (IECS) and Director of the WHO/PAHO collaborating center in HTA. The IECS is an independent academic institution devoted to research, education and technical cooperation with the main goal of improving efficiency, equity, and quality of health care systems and policies. He is also Full Professor of Public Health at the University of Buenos Aires. He has conducted several training, research, and implementation projects in cooperation with government agencies, and academic and private institutions in Latin America, Africa and Asia. In 2008, he was awarded the Global Health Leadership Award from the Global Health Research Initiative in recognition of his career in public health in Latin America. His recent work has involved the development of priority-setting mechanisms and health benefits packages and establishing and training health technology assessment agencies in developing countries. His most recent research has focused on the cost-effectiveness of vaccines, public health interventions, and oncologic drugs; cost-effectiveness and budget impact thresholds, and the analysis of the health and economic impact of public policies in the area of chronic diseases. top

Tadeusz Popiela | Poland

Po raz pierwszy w Polsce zorganizował Seminarium IBUS (International Breast Ultrasound School) – edycja polska 2006 “Diagnostyka obrazowa piersi”. Od 2013r jest zaangażowany w badania związane z badaniem i testowaniem nowatorskiego urządzenia do termografii kontaktowej opartej na technologii pasywnych matryc ciekłokrystalicznych. Stworzył i zredagował pierwszy w Polsce Atlas Termograficzny Raka Piersi, wydany przez PZWL w 2015 r. W zakresie opublikowanych prac autor ponad 100 pozycji, 92 wystąpień na konferencjach zagranicznych i 133 konferencjach krajowych. Zrealizował 4 granty krajowe, 2 zagraniczne oraz 11 projektów statutowych obejmujących zarówno zagadnienia inwazyjnej diagnostyki onkologicznej w zakresie gruczołów piersiowych, jak i metod radiologii interwencyjnej. Przedstawiciel Polskiego Lekarskiego Towarzystwa Radiologicznego. Recenzent dla czasopisma European Journal of Radiology, Polish Journal of Radiology oraz Medycyny Praktycznej. W 2018 r. prof. Tadeusz Popiela razem z prof. Agnieszką Słowik otrzymali nagrodę Prezesa Rady Ministrów za zorganizowanie i koordynowanie systemu leczenia przyczynowego udaru niedokrwiennego mózgu za pomocą trombektomii mechanicznej (CITO) skierowany do mieszkańców Małopolski. W ramach tego systemu leczenie zapewniono ponad 200 chorym. top

Maarten J. Postma | Netherlands

Maarten J. Postma holds the chair Global Health Economics at the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) and the faculty of Economics & Business, both at the University of Groningen and is director of UMCG’s research institute SHARE. He is also a professor in Pharmacoeconomics at the Departments of Pharmacy at the University of Groningen, Pharmacology at the Airlangga University in Surabaya and Pharmaceutical Care Innovation at Universitas Padjadjaran in Bandung, both located in Indonesia. He specifically leads a team of sixty staff, PhD and post-doc researchers in health- and pharmacoeconomics, contributing to many international research networks and scientific communications. Research areas comprise cost-effectiveness methods, for example, in vaccinology, transfusion science, prevention of (complications) of chronic diseases, orphan drugs and personalized medicine. He serves and served on various committees advising the Dutch government on reimbursement of drugs and vaccines (CVZ/ZiNL and Health Council). Also, he is advisor to various health-economics consultancy companies and pharmaceutical companies worldwide, Ministries of Health in neighbouring countries, member of editorial boards of scientific journals, on advisory boards for pharmaceutical companies, expert consultant for WHO and member of WHO’s SAGE-committees. He is a member of UK’s Joint Committee of Vaccination & Immunization and advisor to the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group (Grwp Strategaeth Meddyginiaethau Gymru Gyfam).
